German grounds often have one at the front, he also shouts and encourages the crowd to sing. Works quite well.

The press bang on about the atmosphere at both Palace and Leicester yes and both grounds have a pest with a drum.

When they allowed Palace to bring a drum to our ground, I wrote to David Gold and asked if it was therefore OK for me to bring my rattle and vuvuzala., but he did not reply.

Remember friendly v southend d a few years back. Some young lads had a drum and got so much shit they gave it up

Hasan. The atmosphere from palace fans was shit until they took the lead. That's why there were many renditions of "wheres your famous atmosphere?"

Re: Drums in Football Grounds
I remember when Anderlecht used to have that band behind the goal during their cup winner’s cup run in 76. I know it has been copied several times since over the years but in those days it was quite unusual. I always think that added to the atmosphere, especially with different songs.

I also remember when Crewe had a supporter in the south bank one year in a cup match and he was playing a trumpet. His favourite was the Coronation Street theme.

That said, we had our very own Monty during the early 70’s with his bugle, but I think he just merely waved it around and only played the odd ‘toot’ From it every now and again.

I say, anything to improve our currently morose and depressing atmosphere and frighten away the bloody tourists.

Creates a bit of atmosphere, same cunts giving out about it are the ones complaining the game is too sanatised.

Fairly certain palace had one on boxing day. We take the piss out of the nigels but but could teach us a bit about home game atmosphere

Re: Drums in Football Grounds
I quite like a drum at football , adds to the atmosphere no doubt that makes me some kind of a prick but this is West Ham ,why sing and support the team when you can moan like fuck, look hard with yer cap on and get on the players backs for ten fifteen minutes before you head back and forth to the Heineken bar , we never had support like this years ago , I’m not going to the Liverpool game , not coz l know we’re gonna lose , no ,it’s all the football experts around me ,”someone put a tackle in , don’t dive in , blah, blah . Call yourselves West Ham ,it’s embarrassing!

I went to that match tonight, took my son. It was great and the noise was good, even when 2-0 down. Everyone happy and enjoying it, big difference to the toxic West Ham games I’ve seen this season.

Yeah they should just sit on their arse.... moan... tut a lot... and eat popcorn....

Exactly, any West Ham are in no position to give it out about home atmospheres.

Oddly it doesn't bother me abroad. It feels like it's more part of their culture.

In England the cunts should be put to death.

Went to a barca Match a year ago
Thought the atmosphere was superb... until I realised all their chants were led by some fist at the front with a microphone and his mate with a drum.
